Here at Element we produce wines that reflect a true sense of place, Tūrangawaewae (The place we stand) is a vein that is threaded through all our wines. With low cropping vines, a tread lightly approach to viticulture and respectful use of oak, the unique fingerprint of our small Gimblett Gravels site is allowed to shine through. Wines where you can taste the love.
Element is a family owned and operated business with the whole family living and breathing the experience. We uprooted from Auckland in 2012 and moved to what is now known as Element Vineyard, one of the smallest of the vineyards located on Gimblett Gravels.
Element has a total area of 4.27 ha and only 2.66 ha planted.
The block was established in 2005 with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Viognier.
Rachelle and Brewski (the German Shorthaired Pointer) spend much of their time in the vineyard making sure the fruit arrives at harvest in pristine condition, Rachelle also runs the Element tastings in the gazebo in the backyard of our home.
Dominic is graduate of EIT with a Diploma in Grapegrowing and Winemaking as well has WSET Level 3 qualifications, Dominic works full time at a local winery where we are all hands on crafting our grapes into fine wine.
Our two teenaged girls Zoë and Zaymia love getting stuck in to the hard work, but none so much as fruit sampling at harvest.
